Mobile Grand Ventilator used to shield off neighborhood

120 firefighters fought in Rüfenacht (Switzerland) against a fire in an old Guesthouse. For hours the flames shot out of the attic of the building and the fully involved stable. Adjacent buildings were massively threatened by heat radiation and flying sparks.

Also a mobile grand ventilator MGV L125 of the professional fire brigade Bern was requested. The MGV was not used for ventilation, but by using its water mist system to shield of the endangered buildings nearby. The fire brigade was able to spray large amounts of water on the adjoining houses with only a small amount of personnel, in order to prevent the flames from spreading. The sparks flew up to 150 meters.
